Bolywood actresses Katrina Kaif has joined hands with celebrities Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra as the new brand ambassador for Lux and she thinks it is only a selected lot to have had the “honour”.

Katrina has been roped in as the face of the Lux Purple Lotus & Cream, a soap infused with anti-ageing properties.

“I don’t think every actress in Bollywood has been associated with Lux. A select few actresses, who they felt suited the brand right (have been associated with it) and they all have been actresses of great stature with wonderful careers and some wonderful work,” Katrina told IANS over phone from Dubai Sunday evening.

“I am very honoured to join the group of people who have been with Lux over the years,” she added.

The new commercial has been shot in Bangkok and directed by Marco. While Katrina has been styled by fashion designer Rocky S for the ad, the music has been composed by trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. And if this recent incident is anything to go by, the adage is absolutely true. One of the film industry’s important friendships, which had gone sour in 2007, has been revived all thanks to some yummy chicken pulao.

Let’s rewind a bit. Filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Farah Khan had become best friends in 1993 during the making of 1942: A Love Story and they regularly used to spend time at each other’s homes. Incidentally, the gregarious Farah was one of the few friends that the reclusive Sanjay had.

However, the Sanjay-Farah friendship went sour when their respective films, Saawariya and Om Shanti Om, clashed at the box office in 2007 on the same Friday, November 9. Consequently, differences cropped up between Sanjay and Farah particularly because the latter passed some unsavory comments against Sanjay’s mother Leela. Sanjay had said then: “Why bring my mother into this unnecessarily, specially since my mother has always shown so much love and affection for Farah? Farah and I go back a long way. We can’t allow one film to sour our relations.”

However, things started looking up lately with Sanjay thinking of getting in touch with his old buddy Farah to finally meet her triplets. Just as the thought of meeting Farah seemed to be gathering momentum in Sanjay’s mind, Farah surprised him with a friendly gesture.

On his 46th birthday on Wednesday, Farah sent Sanjay his favourite home-cooked pulao. As Sanjay relished the delicious, steaming hot pulao, he forgot all his past grievances and the two friends are now back together. Now it’s Sanjay’s turn to reciprocate by paying that long-pending visit to Farah’s residence to meet her triplets, who recently turned two.

Confirming the news, Sanjay says, “It was a sweet gesture. I love Farah and her food as much she loves me and the food at my place. It could have been a disastrous birthday, but everything finally came together.”

Disaster struck when on Sanjay’s birthday, a day before his final schedule for Guzaarish was to start at Yash Raj Studios, the Ukrainian magician, who has been summoned to perform magic tricks with Hrithik Roshan, had a visa problem. All hell broke loose at Sanjay’s office since it was not only impossible to find a replacement at that hour but also because Sanjay was determined to shoot only with the magician handpicked by him. After much brouhaha, the visa issue for the magician was sorted out. The Ukranian magician is expected to arrive today, a day later than scheduled. Meanwhile, Hrithik has started creating magic with the Ukranian magician’s assistant who came to Mumbai on Wednesday.

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, one of the brand ambassadors of Pepsi, will play the role of a butler in a new TV commercial for the beverage.

The 27-year-old will be seen wearing a crisp white shirt, a tie and a waistcoat with a funky spiked hairdo for the commercial that will be aired soon.

Ranbir is happy with the commercial, which was shot in a mansion in Los Angeles.

“Shooting was definitely a ‘wow’ experience. I love the way it has turned up right from the script, the sets, the whole look. With Pepsi I have always got a chance to experiment and try new interesting characters. Each commercial brings with it a new excitement,” Ranbir said in a statement.

Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez  started the show at the 55th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009 with a spirited performance from their upcoming film Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. The pair who was last seen in Aladin shared great chemistry on stage and marked a perfect start to the event.

But the highlight of the evening undoubtedly was Shahid Kapoor’s dance performance. Shahid Kapoor gave a tribute to the late legend Michael Jackson with his splendid moves and the audiences went into frenzy. Shahid did each and every step of Michael Jackson including the trademark moonwalk with great ease. He performed on the songs ‘Jam’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’.

While Shahid was paying an ode to MJ, Farhan Akhtar and Kunal Kapoor were watching his act with their jaws wide open. When asked if he would ever do such an act Farhan said, “MJ’s clothes won’t look good on me.”

Kareena Kapoor brought the word Size Zero to India thanks to her wafer thin frame in Tashan, however the leggy lass who has become more curvaceous now insists that she doesn’t eat orange for food, instead she eats everything she likes and that is the reason behind her fab figure.

Kareena says, People often wonder whether I eat an orange for lunch. But that isn’t the case. I eat pasta, pizzas, french fries and even chocolates on occasions. However, I have been taught by my dietician how to eat right. I control the quantities, do upto 40 surya namaskars and stay this way.”

Kareena who is also a vegetarian (thanx to ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor) doesn’t really promote vegetarianism, says, “To each his own. Saif can eat a goat for lunch and dinner, and I sit right next to him at the table. I have no issues at all. My sister Karisma Kapur (who has the best figure, according to me) loves her fish curry and rice. My mum Babita, who is Catholic, likes her rum and raisin pudding. And my father Randhir Kapoor doesn’t know the meaning of the word vegetarian. In fact, he has been in a state of shock for the last five years because I have given up eating meat. He thinks I need my head examined.”

Talking about her size zero, Kareena laughs and says, “My size zero is such a hot topic of discussion at dinner tables across people’s homes, that when Saif and I eat out at a restaurant, people don’t stare so much at us, as much as they stare at what is on my plate. Some even ask the maitre de, ‘what is she ordering for dinner?’ I love the curiosity element.But food and films are things for which each one develops their own tastes. What is good enough for me, can never be good for you and vice versa. All I can say is that never starve. Eat right; and you will go places both with your shape and your soul.”
